Our Story
Ricardo Fonseca's connection to gardening started in childhood, growing vegetables and chilies in the back garden and learning hands-on from local garden workers. A farm school education gave him a formal foundation, and more than a decade working across South Africa, Middle East, France, the UK and Portugal turned that early passion into deep, practical expertise. Ricardo still credits much of what he knows today to constant self-education — staying curious, learning continuously, and applying international standards to every garden he touches. Driven by passion rather than shortcuts, he founded Fonseca Gardens to bring that same standard to homeowners across Sintra, Cascais and Lisbon: a gardener who shows up, communicates clearly, and treats every garden like it matters.
